Ethan Mulholland, a proud Gurindji man from Western Sydney, has embarked on a remarkable journey of personal growth and community empowerment. Since first seeking help as a client in 2018 to overcome challenges with addiction, Ethan has converted his personal journey into a mission dedicated to empowerment and fostering positive change.
His journey stems from The Glen, the only Indigenous drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre serving the Central Coast and greater NSW. Here, Ethan immersed himself in a transformative program designed not only to address addiction, but to foster holistic healing. The 12-week program provided a culturally-safe space for individuals over 18, equipping them with essential life skills and preparing them for a brighter future beyond addiction. Reflecting on his journey, Ethan highlights a pivotal moment of self-discovery:
“Understanding the cultural differences in how my parents viewed money was eye-opening. It taught me the power of self-awareness and the importance of cultural sensitivity in financial empowerment.”
Beyond his work at The Glen, Ethan is actively involved with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, promoting health and fitness as pillars of well-being within Indigenous communities.
His vision extends to creating comprehensive well-being programs that encompass all aspects of health, education, and community engagement. Looking ahead, Ethan remains committed to fostering positive change and empowerment within his community. His journey from client to mentor exemplifies resilience, determination, and a deep-seated commitment to transforming lives. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, Ethan Mulholland continues to inspire and uplift those around him, leaving an indelible mark on the path to healing and empowerment.
