It’s fairly common these days to get  text messages, phone calls or emails offering something for free.

Sometimes people may even knock on your door with a promise of the latest “great offer”.

As this video from the ACCC shows, these out-of-the-blue deals or offers are often ‘too good to be true’.

Scammers use free offers to try and get access to peoples’ money or personal information, which is illegal.
